Senior Researcher
Pascal Blondeau is a Senior Researcher with more than 15 years of experience in scientific research in the field of chemical sensors and biosensors. His expertise mostly includes supramolecular chemistry, nanotechnology and analytical chemistry applied to the development of biosensors for the point of need. He defended his PhD on the design and synthesis of artificial receptors for anions and chiral drugs (UAM Madrid, ICIQ Tarragona, 2007). He then expanded his knowledge with a postdoctoral stay working on nanohybrids and in particular in carbon nanotubes (Padova, Italy, 2009). He joined the nanosensors research group to develop new chemical sensors in 2009. His work focused on implementing the functionalization of nanomaterials for biochemical sensors and developing new biochemical sensors. During the last decade, he has co-supervised 4 PhD and several master students. He has published more than 45 articles in scientific journals and 3 book chapters.
Pascal Blondeau has participated in several technology transfer programs since 2015 such as CaixaImpulse, EIT Health, various R2B programs of the URV and "retos-colaboración" project. In addition, he is co-inventor of 6 patents, 5 of which have been transferred to URV spin-off companies. He is co-founder of 2 companies: CreatSens Health SL (2017) and EOXSENSE SL (2022). He recently received the "academic talent" award from the Gresol Foundation for the creation of EOXSENSE. In addition, he is a professor and coordinator of the Supramolecular Chemistry subject in the master's degree "Nanoscience, Materials and Processes: Chemical Technology at the Frontier".
